Free To Air

I first became acquainted with flash drives in 2006. I was working at home as a draftsperson for a land surveying company. There was some information that would have taken forever to send via e-mail, so my employer would send a messenger over with flash drives about twice a week. Although I have used them for several other tasks by now, those little buggers still amaze me every time.

Remember the 3.5” floppy disks? Those are so 1999 now. I have to admit that even CD storage was an enormous step in the right direction for the transfer of large amounts of data. However, they are nothing compared to the USB flash drives. Wow! They can hold a ton of information and they just plug into any USB port on your computer. The download speeds are crazy, too! Whether you save documents for work or personal photographs, a USB flash drive can be a great little gadget for you.

I remember when I bought a computer that had a 1 gigabyte hard drive. I thought that was so much space! I just dreamt of ways to fill it up. I could not imagine ever needing that much storage for anything.
The irony is that now my smallest flash drive is 1 gigabyte! What was awesome not so long ago, I can now carry on my keychain. I think that these little guys are terrific. I do have to admit that I do like that some of them come with different colored covers and fun little accessories, too.

Since there are so many brands of USB flash drives, you want to do your homework. Alternatively, you can just find a dealer that is well-informed to help you. They may think of things that you wouldn’t on your own. Decide how you will use your flash drive or drives the most. You will need to know approximately how much space you are going to need. You can get a lot of different sizes.

With so much of our lives being fast-paced and often disorganized, it’s nice to have the USB flash drives to help keep our information at least in one place. I like the idea of loading mine up with data and heading to a meeting. I can just plug it into the computer at work and I have everything I need at my fingertips. Plus, I didn’t have to even carry my laptop! There is truly no easier way to be organized and professional. The days of large floppy disks that can be easily scratched and damaged are gone. Today’s technology calls for more reliable storage and that is only available with the help of USB flash drives. These compact little tools are power houses of memory that can keep you functioning personally and professionally.

If you are not familiar with these drives, you should be. They are useful in so many instances. Now, if they could just design one that you could plug into teenagers and program them to instantly clean their rooms. That would be really amazing!
